A programme of silent films with live improvised scores from five leading contemporary musicians. The programme comes from the IFI Irish Film Archive and includes a varied collection of rarely-seen fiction and factual films made in or about Cork and by Cork filmmakers from the 1910s to the 1940s. Eoghan Neff (fiddle / electronics), Seán Mac Erlaine (reeds / electronics), Shane Latimer (guitar / electronics), Jack McMahon (aka DJackulate, turntables / reeds), and Sean Carpio (percussion / guitar).

The Mysteries Beyond Matter. For this concert, Quiet Music Ensemble will use the whole of the extraordinary Freemasons’ Hall building in central Dublin. An institution rich in history, the rooms are each distinctively and enthrallingly decorated, displaying the unique symbology of the Freemasons’ Order. The audience will be free to explore the building as the music is played. Programme: Pauline Oliveros – The Mystery Beyond Matter (world premiere of the multichannel version), Jennifer Walshe –Dordán (Irish premiere), Martin Iddon – in’ei (world premiere), Christopher Fox – Qui/nt/et, John Godfrey – hand tinted.

Tsvetaeva’s poetry is noted for its fiery passion and pulsing musical patterns. Her poems will be read in English by Elaine Feinstein, one of the foremost translators of her work, and in Irish by Dairena Ní Chinnéide. They will be accompanied by musicians Steve Cooney (guitar) and Seán Mac Erlaine (clarinet, electronics) and by stunning visual projections featuring archive photographs, art and film created by Margaret Lonergan.

The evening includes an opportunity to listen to a recording of the Pulse Music / Ceol Cuisle programme, followed by a Q&A session with the programme makers Dylan Tighe (director and researcher) and Seán Mac Erlaine (original music and sound design), introduced by Peter Fallon.
The Pulse Music / Ceol Cuisle recording features the all-munster cast of actor, Andrew Bennett, singers Nell Ní Chróinín and Iarla O'Lionaird, and the voice of Michael Hartnett/ Micháel O hAirtnéide.
